Meet Our Team

John Ferrera, Ph.D.

John Ferrera, Ph.D. is a licensed neuropsychologist and the founder of Integrative Neuropsychological Services PLLC, a practice he established in New York City in 2012. Over 15 years in private practice, he has evaluated thousands of children, adolescents, and adults, bringing both deep clinical experience and genuine curiosity to every case.

Dr. Ferrera earned his Ph.D. in Clinical Neuropsychology from the CUNY Graduate Center and has held his NYS Psychology license since 2010. He completed his clinical internship at NYU's Rusk Institute, where he built a strong foundation in complex cases and gained firsthand insight into how disability affects the entire family. Before founding his practice, he also worked in schools as both a psychologist and a reading specialist. These experiences continue to shape how he thinks about learning, development, and the whole child.

His areas of specialty include Autism Spectrum Disorder (all Levels including nonspeaking autism, High-Functioning Autism, and Twice-Exceptional/"2e" profiles), dyslexia and reading disabilities, speech and language disorders, nonverbal learning disabilities, and complex neurodevelopmental presentations. With nearly 15 years of experience and thousands of evaluations, Dr. Ferrera has developed a keen ability to recognize complex patterns and make difficult, nuanced diagnoses that others may miss. He offers in-person neuropsychological evaluations in New York City, as well as remote diagnostic and biomedical consultations for families all over the world.

Biomedical specialty

What sets Dr. Ferrera's work apart is his commitment to going beyond the diagnosis. His interest in integrative and biomedical medicine began with his own health journey. When changes in his diet led to meaningful personal improvements including reversing psoriasis and easing anxiety, he found himself more open to the remarkable stories he was hearing from biomedical physicians and the families of his patients. That openness led him to explore the growing body of evidence supporting metabolic and biomedical approaches, and what he discovered convinced him: restoring balance at the biological level can drive real, lasting progress in autism, ADHD, anxiety, and other developmental challenges.

He is an active member of the Medical Academy of Pediatrics and Special Needs (MAPS) and completed a 2-year course of study to become a certified Chris Kresser Functional Medicine Practitioner.

Outside the Office

John is the father of an 18-year-old son and splits his time between New York City and Portugal. When he's not working, you'll find him on a surfboard, a bike, a yoga mat, or walking his dogs. He believes in living the principles he shares with clients, and considers work-life balance, time spent with family and friends, time in nature, movement, and good food essential to lasting wellbeing.

Kait Kearney, Ph.D.

Kait Kearney, Ph.D. is a postdoctoral fellow at Integrative Neuropsychological Services with a passion for working with young children and their families. She earned her Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from The City College of New York, where her research explored how early life experiences, including exposure to environmental stressors such as pollution, shape child development and influence behavioral and psychological outcomes over time.

Dr. Kearney brings clinical experience from school, outpatient, and hospital settings, with expertise spanning neuropsychological assessment, early intervention, and parent-guided treatment. Her work centers on identifying and supporting children with neurodevelopmental and learning differences, with the dual goal of nurturing emotional wellbeing and setting kids up for success in the classroom and beyond.

What defines her approach is genuine partnership with families. She takes time to understand each child's full picture, considering their strengths, challenges, and the context they live and learn in, then translates that into practical, individualized recommendations that work across home and school. Families leave not just with a diagnosis, but with a real plan.

As a mother of two living in New York City, Dr. Kearney brings a level of empathy and groundedness to her work that families often find immediately reassuring. She understands firsthand the weight of navigating a child's challenges, and that understanding shapes everything about how she shows up for the families she works with.
